On the morning of January 20, 2025, at 7:48:12, North Park Fire was dispatched to a possible structure fire in the 100 block of Marquette Rd. While en route, Engine 802 reported visible smoke in the area. Upon arriving on scene at 7:50:48, the crew found fire at the rear of a house with extension into the attic.
In a video from the scene, you can see North Park's engine crew quickly applying water to the fire, with the smoke transitioning from black to whiteβan indication that conditions were improving.
Crews battled the fire in frigid -4Β°F temperatures, successfully minimizing fire damage to the interior of the structure. All occupants of the home, including their three dogs, were able to escape without injury. The Red Cross has been called to assist the displaced family.
We extend our gratitude to our auto-aid partners and departments who covered other calls in our district while we were on scene for their outstanding support, as always. At the time of this report, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Strong work. Great job by all.
Great work everyone!
Great job firefighters! It was brutally cold!
Great job
Pretty impressive
This past Saturday, January 18, 2025, the proud members of North Park Fire gave up their free time to participate in Hazmat training. This important session was part of the ongoing effort to re-certify their Hazmat Operations certification, as required by the state of Illinois.
Continuous training is vital for every fire department member, and we are incredibly proud of our team for willingly and enthusiastically stepping up to meet these standards. Their commitment to the safety and well-being of our community is truly inspiring.
As always, these dedicated individuals voluntarily gave up their Saturday morning to ensure theyβre prepared for any situation that may arise. North Park Fire strives to be the best for the people we serve and protect!
Thank you to our incredible team for your hard work and selflessness!

Raise your flags all the way up. It's Inauguration Day. Carter was buried 2 weeks ago. So discouraging to see such disrespect. Be like Texas.
North Park represents the BEST of the BEST!!!! ππ»♥οΈ
On January 16, 2025, at 4:13 PM, North Park Fire Protection District was dispatched to a potential structure fire in the 100 block of Gilbert Terrace.
When the first unit arrived on scene at 4:17 PM, they reported seeing smoke coming from the roof of the residence. The first suppression unit also arrived at 4:17 PM and quickly located the source of the fire in the attic and an exterior wall. The crews acted fast to suppress the flames, but they encountered an additional challenge: an active power line that was running into the residence in the area of the fire.
Crews worked diligently to keep the situation under control, but the presence of the power line made it impossible to fully extinguish until COMED arrived to disconnect the power to the residence.
While there was fire damage to a small area on the back of the residence, the prompt and coordinated efforts of all involved prevented further destruction.
We are pleased to report that the homeβs occupants and their pets were able to evacuate without injury.
Thanks to the quick and efficient response of our auto-aid partners,

Glad you are ok
We're not above shamelessly "stealing" our neighbor's graphics to prove a point.
No, we're not the busiest department in the county, Rockford Fire Department clearly has their hands full and then some. But did you know that North Park Fire responds to these 2,323 incidents without dedicated, 24/7 paid staffing for much of our operations? We're a busy organization that relies nights and weekends on volunteer personnel to answer these calls (and they volunteer as dedicated, in house duty crews). Weekdays (6am to 6pm) our engine is staffed by part-time personnel, and our ambulance is staffed by a full-time paramedic and part-time EMT-Basic or paramedic 24/7, but a great majority of our emergency responses are answered by our amazing volunteer staff. At some point the demand will outpace our volunteers, but we're thankful for their dedication, hard-work and willingness to train to serve our community and those that visit it.

When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it's been deleted.Instead of bragging about exploiting laborers for their time, pay them. The city can afford to, it chooses not to, simple as that.
You guys are just important as Rockford fire, it’s not about how many calls you respond to, it’s the job and dedication you guys provide. You guys are so appreciated!
