On the morning of January 20, 2025, at 7:48:12, North Park Fire was dispatched to a possible structure fire in the 100 block of Marquette Rd. While en route, Engine 802 reported visible smoke in the area. Upon arriving on scene at 7:50:48, the crew found fire at the rear of a house with extension into the attic.

In a video from the scene, you can see North Park's engine crew quickly applying water to the fire, with the smoke transitioning from black to whiteβ€”an indication that conditions were improving.

Crews battled the fire in frigid -4Β°F temperatures, successfully minimizing fire damage to the interior of the structure. All occupants of the home, including their three dogs, were able to escape without injury. The Red Cross has been called to assist the displaced family.

We extend our gratitude to our auto-aid partners and departments who covered other calls in our district while we were on scene for their outstanding support, as always. At the time of this report, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

This past Saturday, January 18, 2025, the proud members of North Park Fire gave up their free time to participate in Hazmat training. This important session was part of the ongoing effort to re-certify their Hazmat Operations certification, as required by the state of Illinois.

Continuous training is vital for every fire department member, and we are incredibly proud of our team for willingly and enthusiastically stepping up to meet these standards. Their commitment to the safety and well-being of our community is truly inspiring.

As always, these dedicated individuals voluntarily gave up their Saturday morning to ensure they’re prepared for any situation that may arise. North Park Fire strives to be the best for the people we serve and protect!

Thank you to our incredible team for your hard work and selflessness!

Raise your flags all the way up. It's Inauguration Day. Carter was buried 2 weeks ago. So discouraging to see such disrespect. Be like Texas.

North Park represents the BEST of the BEST!!!! πŸ‘ŠπŸ»♥️

On January 16, 2025, at 4:13 PM, North Park Fire Protection District was dispatched to a potential structure fire in the 100 block of Gilbert Terrace.

When the first unit arrived on scene at 4:17 PM, they reported seeing smoke coming from the roof of the residence. The first suppression unit also arrived at 4:17 PM and quickly located the source of the fire in the attic and an exterior wall. The crews acted fast to suppress the flames, but they encountered an additional challenge: an active power line that was running into the residence in the area of the fire.

Crews worked diligently to keep the situation under control, but the presence of the power line made it impossible to fully extinguish until COMED arrived to disconnect the power to the residence.
While there was fire damage to a small area on the back of the residence, the prompt and coordinated efforts of all involved prevented further destruction.

We are pleased to report that the home’s occupants and their pets were able to evacuate without injury.

Thanks to the quick and efficient response of our auto-aid partners,
