The North Park Fire Department Seeks Interested Applicants for Part-time/Volunteer Positions:
The North Park Fire Department has served the community with pride and answered emergency calls for over 60 years. Our firefighters reside in Machesney Park, Loves Park, Rockford and other nearby communities. Residency near the district is preferred; however, the department provides a limited number of positions to interested candidates who reside outside the service area. We welcome interested, capable and dedicated individuals who desire to serve our community so long as they meet the high standards of training, certification, and participation expected of all North Park personnel.
While almost all of our staff serves in a part-time or volunteer capacity, we take great pride in the level of professional training and certification our personnel obtain. Our personnel receive extensive fire, rescue, and emergency medical training. The time and commitment required to become a firefighter with North Park may seem extensive, but the training and experience is important to providing the highest level of service when our citizens need it most. Starting in 2012, all North Park Fire Department recruits must successfully complete a candidate physical ability test, a written exam and an interview for selection. Once selected, North Park candidates go through a 16 weekend fire academy held primarily on Saturdays. Pending successful completion of the academy, candidates become probationary firefighters and are assigned to a station/company.
While this commitment is intense, it will be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life. If you are up for this challenge and willing to serve your neighbors when they need you most, please contact our administrative office at (815) 636-3051 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and an application.
